Today, I’ll be sharing the 12 daily habits of happy people.
If you aren’t happy with where you are in life, there are some good habits you can learn to incorporate so you can be happier!
The key to happiness is often found in our daily habits and routines, which we tend to take for granted. In this article, we will explore some of the habits of happy people so that you can develop some new ones of your own.
12 Daily Habits of Happy People
Get Enough Sleep
Sleep is an essential part of life and happiness. When you’re sleeping well, it can make a huge difference in how you feel and act during the day.
In fact, there are many studies that show a correlation between lack of sleep and depression or anxiety disorders–so getting enough rest can help keep your mental health in check!
The amount of sleep each person needs is different depending on age, gender, genetics, lifestyle choices (like exercise levels), etc… But according to research from the National Sleep Foundation: adults should aim for 7-9 hours; teens need 9-10 hours; children aged 6 months through 5 years old need at least 14 hours per 24 hour period; babies under 6 months old should get 12-16 hours each day
Get Exercise
Getting exercise is another key habit of happy people. Exercise helps you sleep better, releases endorphins (the chemical responsible for your “runner’s high”), and improves heart health. It also helps keep you in shape–and feeling better about yourself!
Limit Screentime
We tend to get caught up on our phones, just mindfully scrolling. And that’s okay- sometimes. But if we’re spending every minute of the day on our phones, what is that really doing for us?
If you want to feel happier, try limited your screen time. You can set limits for yourself. Try starting by not being on your phone when you’re at dinner.
If you find yourself getting bored, here are some fun screen-free activities you can try.
Be Grateful for What you Have
Gratitude is a habit. It’s something you can do every single day, regardless of what’s going on in your life.
Gratitude is the antidote for unhappiness and negativity because it helps us focus on what we have instead of what we don’t have or want more of.
When you are grateful for your life, it keeps you humble and reminds you that there are many people who don’t have what they need to survive each day; they may not even have clean water or food!
Find a Hobby you Enjoy
If you’re looking to become happier, it’s important to have something outside of work that gives you meaning or brings you joy. Hobbies can be anything from painting to knitting and beyond.
We truly don’t spend enough time doing the things we love. So whether it’s playing piano or reading a book, try to find some time to do a hobby you love.
Make Time for Self Care
Self care is important, and it’s something that you should make time for every single day. Self care can be as simple as taking a walk or reading a book; it doesn’t have to be anything extravagant or difficult. If you’re feeling stressed out or overwhelmed, self care is the perfect way to relieve some of that tension and get back on track with your life goals.
The best part about self care? It’s free! You don’t have to spend any money at all if you don’t want to–you just need some time off from work and responsibilities so that you can do whatever makes sense for YOUR body and mind (and maybe even get outside).
Spend Time with Friends and Family
One of the most important things to do is to spend time with friends and family. It’s easy to get caught up in your own problems, but those who are happy tend not to focus on what they don’t have. They also avoid comparing themselves with others because it can lead them down a path of jealousy and unhappiness.
If you’re feeling lonely or depressed, try taking a walk outside or calling someone on the phone instead of texting them all day long (and night). You don’t want all your interactions with others online!
Live in the Moment
One of the key daily habits of happy people is that they live in the present. Instead of worrying about what tomorrow or the next day will bring, they’re enjoying the moment in the here and now.
One way you can learn to do that is practicing mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present in the moment, without judgment or attachment to thoughts or feelings. It’s about being aware of what you’re doing and how it makes you feel–without judging yourself or others for their actions.
Focus on what you are doing rather than thinking about something else that happened in the past or may happen in future (e.g., worrying).
Spend Time Outside
Do you find yourself spending too much time indoors?
If so, it’s time to get out in nature!
Being outdoors is one of the best ways to reconnect with yourself and your surroundings. Spending time outside has been shown time and time again to reduce stress and improve your mood.
Find Purpose
If you want to achieve true happiness, you need to find a purpose in your life. It doesn’t have to be this grand thing, it could be something simple. It can be a goal, dream or ideal that you want to achieve.
Purpose can also be a cause or an ideal that you believe in. It could even just doing something that makes others happy! This means that you’re not just doing what’s good for yourself but also improving someone else’s life at the same time! This might sound like an easy thing to do but actually finding purpose can take some time and effort because it requires us to look deep within ourselves first before we find our true selves (the person underneath all those layers).
Learn Something New
Learning new things is a great way to stay happy. There are many different ways that learning can improve your life, including:
I think it’s so good for us in general to always be learning. You could try learning a language or a new skill, like crocheting.
You can even put on a podcast on the drive to work or read a new book.
Work for Happiness
Sometimes, it seems like happiness just comes to people and that can be true. But you can also work for happiness by implementing these daily habits of happy people.
If you don’t like your job, find something you might like a little better. If that’s not possible, try focus your time outside of work doing the things you enjoy.
Daily Habits of Happy People Summed Up
So, if you want to be happy and live a fulfilling life, it’s important to make time for the things that bring you joy. The above list is just a starting point–we hope it gives you some ideas on how to get started with your own daily habits.
It might seem like an overwhelming task at first glance, but don’t worry! Start small with something like going outside for 10 minutes each day or taking up one new hobby per month until eventually all these little things add up into something big: a happier life.
