Today I’ll be talking about fun things to do alone for personal growth.
It’s always fun to go out with your friends, whether it’s going to a movie or traveling somewhere (unless you’re an introvert like me). But sometimes it’s good to try things alone. Sometimes your plans just don’t work out, but that doesn’t mean you should just sit it out!
Going out alone is uncomfortable. I don’t know about you, but I feel like people look at me like I’m a loser that doesn’t have any friends. Go Somewhere New
Go on a day trip or even just somewhere close by that you’ve never been. You could even make it a trip or go on a vacation by yourself! It’s a completely different vibe than going with family or friends. You get to go wherever you want and can leave whenever you’re ready. I feel like traveling alone is one of the best ways to experience personal growth.
Bake your Favorite Dessert
One of the fun things to do alone this Fall is to bake your favorite dessert. The reason I say Fall is because that’s my favorite season for baking, but you can bake whenever and whatever you’d like! Baking or cooking is a great thing to do by yourself because you don’t have to worry about whether other people like it. You can add your favorite ingredients to make it your own!
Listen to a Podcast
I love listening to podcasts while I’m busy cleaning or driving somewhere. One of my favorite podcasts to listen to is Crime Junkie. I also like listening to podcasts where I can learn something, like history and science. You can also learn some self improvement tips from personal growth podcasts.
Go for a Hike
This one can be a little scary. If you do decide to hike alone, make sure you tell people where you’re going and when you expect to be back. Also make sure you bring plenty of supplies and something to protect yourself with. If you take the right precautions, hiking alone can be a super fun thing to do alone. There’s nothing like being out in nature with just you and your thoughts.
Dine in at a Restaurant
Eating at a restaurant alone can feel really awkward. I remember hating going out to lunch by myself during work. It felt like everyone was judging me for eating alone. I would just put my head down and eat as fast as a could to get out of there. As I went by myself more and more, I felt like I was growing more confident in doing things on my own. Now if I want something to eat, I’ll just go without thinking twice about it. It’s nice to be able to just get up and go do things like that without having to make plans for friends and family joining along.
Do an Art Project
There’s a ton of different art projects you can do by yourself! You can draw, paint, sculpt, or even build something out of wood. Being alone can get your creative juices flowing, and it’s the perfect time to make a new piece of art.
Go to a Concert
Going to a concert is another fun thing to do for personal growth. It’s also one of those things that feels really awkward at first. The important thing that matters is that you have a great time, so just let loose and enjoy the music.
Watch your Favorite Show or Movie
I hardly ever take the time just sit down and put all of my attention on watching a movie. Watching movies is a really fun thing to do with other people, but it’s also good to watch one alone every now and again.
Go to a Museum
One of my favorite things to do by myself is go to a museum. You can spend as much time as you want looking at your favorite things. It’s a great way to just slow down and enjoy life.
Go Shopping
I actually just went out shopping this morning by myself. Don’t get me wrong, I love going out with other people. Sometimes I like to go out by myself though. Kind of like the museum, you can look at whatever you want without feeling rushed. I really like going thrift shopping by myself because it takes so long to go through all of the racks. You can also go shopping for things like home decor.
Decorate your Home
Speaking of home decor, being alone is one of the best times to decorate your house! Whether you get new home decor or just want to move stuff around, alone time is the perfect time to do that (unless you’re moving heavy things of course).
Go to the Movies
Has there ever been a movie you really wanted to see, but your plans just don’t work out to go see it with friends or family? Go alone! You don’t have to wait on anyone to go. It’s an uncomfortable thing to do alone, but I think it’s one of the best ways to grow your confidence.
Have a Spa Day
Having a spa day is the perfect thing to do if you’ll be alone for the day. You can do whatever makes you feel good! Take a long bath, do a face and hair mask, and even go for a massage.

Read a Book
Next, reading a book is a great idea if you’re alone. I have a hard time concentrating on reading if there’s someone else around that’s making noise. You can read something interesting, like a fantasy novel, or even read about personal growth.
Go to a Class
The last of the fun things to do alone for personal growth is take a class. It can be any class that you’re interested in or something you’ve never tried before. There are all kinds of classes, like painting, cooking, yoga, etc.
