I don’t think I’m the only one who says “This year is going to be better” every single year.
This year actually is going to better, and I’m going to teach you how. You don’t have to completely turn around. There are simple steps you can take to improve your life in 2022.
The great part is that you don’t have to wait until New Year. You can start these tiny habits today.
There is always room to grow and make your life the happiest it can be.
I’m sharing a list of simple ways to improve your life in 2022. You definitely shouldn’t start implementing all of these right away. Start with one or two and slowly build your way up. Even if you only implement a couple of these, it can improve your life.
Simple Ways to Improve your Life in 2022
Meditate Every Day
If you’re looking to improve yourself in terms of your mental health, I think meditation is one of the best small changes you can make.
Even if you take just 5 minutes out of your day, get comfortable and find a guided meditation to listen to. Remember that you’re not trying to keep all thoughts away. When thoughts come, acknowledge them and come back to your present self.
Start a Journal

In short, you’ll get to know yourself better and that’ll guide you towards things you can improve to become happier.
Learn How to Manifest
Manifesting is something I just learned about last year. Even if you don’t really believe in it, it’s a good way to start thinking more positively and give you more confidence.
Set Goals
You won’t know if you’ve made any progress if you don’t set goals. Try setting daily, weekly, monthly, and annual goals.
Here are some tips to set goals you’ll actually achieve.
Live Intentionally
In my post about romanticizing your life, I talked a lot about living your life with intention. If whatever you’re doing doesn’t benefit you, don’t do it. Living every moment with intention gives meaning and purpose to your life.

Be Grateful
Along with living intentionally, being grateful makes you feel happier.

Cold showers are known to increase endorphins, fight off common illnesses, wake you up, and more.
Cut out Junk Food
Your body and mind will thank you for eating less junk food.
Create a Personal Development Plan
Creating a personal development plan is one of the first steps you can take to live your dream life.
You can learn to take control of your life and figure out what steps you’re doing to take to live your happiest life.
Live Simply
Our lives are so busy, we forget to slow down and live simply. Living by the motto less is more can help you live a life you truly appreciate.
Plan a Monthly Budget
Improving your life means improving your finances. Start a monthly budget to keep track of your finances and start saving money.
Make Peace with your Past
You can’t move forward and fully enjoy life without making peace with your past.
Stop Comparing Yourself
You’ll never truly be happy if you’re always comparing yourself to others. There will always be someone better at something than you and that’s okay.
The only person you should be comparing to yourself is you. Try focusing on becoming your best self instead.
Heal your Inner Child
You may have experienced pain and trauma in your childhood that’s still affecting you today. You can work on healing your inner child to help you live a better life as an adult.
If you feel like you’re ready, pretend you walk into a room where there’s a child. You notice that they’re upset about something. That child is you. What do you say to them? Be the person you needed when you were a child.
Stretch Daily
One of the most forgotten simple ways to improve your life is to stretch daily. Even if we get exercise, we seem to forget to stretch, and that’s so important.
Stretching will help your posture, flexibility, sleep, and pain.

I can scroll through Tik Tok for hours, usually when I have something else I need to be doing. It’s addicting, like all social media. It’s okay to get on social media some, but constantly being on it can play a part in stress, anxiety, and depression.
Try doing something more meaningful with your time.
Learn Self Awareness
If you want to improve, the first thing you need to do is find out what your strengths and areas to improve in are.
Remove Toxic People
I know it’s hard, but remove the people who are negatively influencing your life. This could be friends and family, but sometimes that’s what you need to do.
Do Things that Make You Smile
Another simple way to improve your life in 2022 is to do things that make you smile. I know that sounds obvious, but we get so caught up in life and what others think, we forget to do what makes us happy.
Whether it’s dancing, picking flowers, or eating dessert, do things that makes you happy.
Learn to Let Go
Sometimes part of a personal development journey means learning to let go. Stop ruminating over the past. If it’s not something you can change, there’s no reason to worry about it.
Stop Negative Self Talk
We can all be self critical, but we are so critical, we limit our potential. You are your own friend. If you wouldn’t say it to a friend, don’t say it to yourself.

Don’t forget to take the time to get to know yourself better. Here are some self discovery questions to get your started.
Pay Off Debt
Being in debt sucks because it’s just looming over your head. You could start a side hustle like I mentioned earlier. That’s the biggest thing that has put my mind at ease.

Organize your Life
One of the best ways to improve your life in 2022 is to get organized. Starting a new year is the perfect time to start. Get a nice planner, clean out your closet, and put important documents in a file folder or other organization system.
These are just some ideas, but there are tons of ways you can organize your life.

Socialize with Friends and Family
We get so busy, we forget to relax and socialize with those we love. Whether it’s a quick phone call or going out for the weekend, make time to be social with your friends and family.

Spend Time in Nature
Studies have shown that spending time outdoors improves your mood, happiness, and wellbeing.
Create a Morning Routine
Having a morning routine is the foundation for the rest of your day.
Write To Do Lists
One of the best simple ways to improve your life in 2022 is to write to do lists. I don’t know about you, but I love checking off lists. It makes me so much more productive.

Heal your Gut
So much new information has came out recently about the gut brain connection.
What you eat affects your microbiome, which can lead to anxiety and depression. Some things you can do to heal your gut is take probiotics, check for food intolerances, eat foods high in fiber, and eat foods that boost collagen (like bone broth).
Do a Life Review
Before the new year starts, do a life review. Find out what you want to do differently in 2022.
Set Boundaries
Another important but simple way to improve your life in 2022 is to set boundaries. You can set boundaries for yourself (like not doing extra work at home) or in your relationships.
Create a Vision Board
One of my favorite ways to set goals is to make a vision board. It’s one thing to write out goals, but it’s another to see what they would look like. I make a collage in Canva Pro for different areas of life, like financial, family, wellness, travel, etc. and put together pictures of everything I want to achieve.
I like setting this as my phone background, or you could print the pictures and put it on a poster.
Create a Relaxing Night Routine
You not only need a morning routine to improve your life, but also a night routine. I use my night routine to relax for a good nights sleep.
Learn to Love Yourself
If you take away anything from this post, I want you to learn to love yourself. Learn to love the way you look. Learn to love your quirks. Love all of the simple things you might take for granted. Romanticize your life.
